Sex and Sex Books

For three years now since we began the sexy bookshop we've been reading books about sex. Erotic books and books about sexuality. And, of course, we're still learning. Mostly about ourselves. And others. And how we are all kind of the same. But different at the same time. Here's some of what we've come to know about sex and reading books about sex...

1. Good books about sex are not just about sex ...
They are about intimacy; intimacy with ourselves and as an extension of this, intimacy with others.

2. Knowing who you are & being who you are is sexy
This includes owning what turns YOU on. Now of course being interested and caring towards your partner is important.  Very important. Which brings us to ...

3. Kindness
If you want kindness in the bedroom (or wherever) be kind throughout the day, the week, the year! Kindness is the practice of love and thinking about 'sex' as a distinct act from the rest of your daily life limits the potential for intimacy.

4. We are all sexual
We all have our own unique brand of sexuality; whether we like it or not, whether we accept it or not.  So why not enjoy it!

5. The image of sex and relationships presented in the media is one of fantasy
Which is why we need to let go of what we think our sex life should look like and create one to suit ourselves!
